Let's Hunt the Golden State Killer
“Your familiarity freaked them. Your hands flew to hard-to-find light switches. You knew names. Number of kids. Hangouts. Your pre-planning gave you a crucial advantage, because when your victims awoke to a blinding flashlight and clenched-teeth threats, you were always a stranger to them, but they never were to you.”
This is a fragment from an open letter that Michelle McNamara, an amateur sleuth, wrote to the Golden State Killer, a fugitive from justice who terrorized California from 1976 to 1986. Sadly, after dedicating her whole life to tracking him down, she passed away before he was finally nabbed. No matter. She never cared about the glory–she just wanted the case solved, regardless of who solved it. So, on August 29th we will join her hunt, and read the book that played a definitive role in the Golden State Killer’s capture.
So, join us on Thursday, August 29th at 20u30:
